Areola reduction in India
Quick answer
Areola reduction makes the darker circle of skin around the nipple smaller and rounder. It is often done under local anaesthesia and can be combined with a lift or augmentation. As a stand-alone procedure, a stay of about 4 to 6 days is enough.

At a glance
The areola can stretch with pregnancy, weight change or ageing, or simply be large from development. Some areolas are puffy or oval rather than round.
The surgeon removes a ring of areola skin and closes the edge with a special stitch that stops it widening again. The scar sits at the junction of areola and breast skin, where it is less visible.
How this approach differs
Alone, this suits a short trip of 4 to 6 days so the wound can be checked once. A soft bra or chest dressing is worn for a week or two. Protect the scar from the sun for several months, as the boundary between pigmented and normal skin can darken or blur. If you are planning a lift as well, do both together to avoid a second trip.

Frequently asked questions
Will the scar be visible?
The scar runs around the edge of the areola, where light and dark skin meet. It usually blends well, though it can widen in some people.
Can men have areola reduction?
Yes. It is sometimes done with gynecomastia surgery, or alone for puffy or large areolas.
Does it affect breastfeeding?
The ducts under the areola are usually left alone, so breastfeeding is often unaffected. Your surgeon will confirm this for your technique.
